Well hello there...

Welcome to my blog. Brb... I'm making memories (read as: Wine. I'm going to get some wine...)

Bible and Billboard Bashing

I have read a few posts this morning about a complaint lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority by a Pretoria man who took offence to a billboard that had been put up by a church. The Billboard quotes a verse from Psalm: "The fool says in his heart: 'There is no God'."

Now being agnostic myself, and to be honest, beginning to lean a little bit more towards atheism the older I get, I must say, this statement did irk me a little.

Just a little.

What irked me a little more though, is that people seem to be confused as to WHY this man is complaining. There was even a post that asked the question, if this person is an atheist and doesn’t believe in the bible, then why is he offended by this billboard?

Well… because he’s being called a fool (With your pants on the ground! – Sorry I’ll focus now ;)). Whether you believe in the book or not, there are a lot of verses in that book that could have brought the masses together. Other than using a narfy statement like that, yes, no?

For example, if I had to have gone and stuck a billboard up across Atterbury road that said:

“"The Ignorant Fool says in his heart, God will save us all,

…except the handicapped, poor, starving and dying”

I am interested to see who would be the first to hop, skip and jump on their high horse.

I say each to his own, but let's play nicely now shall we...?
